Editorial Design Intern
Editorial Design interns assist the department in the design and production of the editorial content of the Boston Phoenix, as well as research, scan, and create images for use in the paper. Essentially a junior designer-level position, this is a good introduction to the world of publication design. Candidates must have good working knowledge of InDesign and Photoshop, and strong typography skills. Illustration skills/knowledge a big plus. 15-20 hours per week. Full-time interns welcome.
Editorial Photography Intern
Photo interns work on an assignment basis with the Editorial Design department, shooting photographs for use in the paper and for the Phoenix Web site. Assignments may range from food and restaurant photos to live music to pictorial to portraits. Must have solid photography skills, and own camera. Interest in photojournalism a plus, but a passion for beautiful photography is a must. 8-12 hours per week, flexible hours.
Editorial Intern
Contributing to our weekly online Flashbacks column. Inputting the paper weekly into our online database. Doing the occasional bit of research for editors/writers. Transcription. Backing me up from time to time. Hunting down people who write letters to the editor. And perhaps the opportunity to write some.
Web/editorial new media Intern
Help with the upkeep, maintenance, and integrity of thePhoenix.com, help with listings, photo-finding and cropping, aid in special web projects (from hunting down mp3s to youtube clips to photos), contribute to the blogs, write online articles and reviews, help shoot and edit video. Qualifications include: internet savviness, Photoshop a plus, but not required; camera skills (video and digital) a plus but not required; include writing samples with application.
Promotions Intern
Interested in web marketing, including Google analytics, email marketing and social networking. Helping with events. Promoting via invitations, cold calling, follow-up via email. Working with venues. Managing mailings. Updating media lists. Working with the Interactive marketing manager.
Web Marketing Intern
Interested in web marketing, including: Google analytics, email marketing and social networking. Weekly Google analytic tracking, will train. Setting up daily emails in html. Setting up daily blog. Web marketing, sending out emails to relevant sources for a stories or collecting where our story has been picked up. Setting up weekly press releases in html. Updating all social networking sites including: updating pictures, interactions, Myspace and Facebook. Must be able to do HTML, willing to be trained to work with a content management system. Web analytics.
Marketing Department Graphic Design Internship
Marketing Design interns assist the department in the design and production of marketing materials, event invitations and in-house advertisements for the Boston Phoenix, Stuff@Night Magazine and WFNX Radio. Candidates must have solid working knowledge of InDesign and Photoshop, Illustrator and an interest in working primarily in print design. 14 hours per week.

Sales Internship (Boston, MA)
Fun, stylish, work environment that is tapped into Boston’s hip, trendsetting scene. Clients include Saks, Macy’s Liberty Hotel, Boston’s top restaurant. As an intern you would be getting a bird’s eye view of advertising sales from one of Boston’s hottest magazines!
We are looking for people that can take direction quickly, roll up their sleeves, help organize the team, and learn about sales, marketing, advertising, and how a magazine works! Willing to work in a FAST PACED environment and support the sales staff. Official schedule to work throughout the semester; 3 days a week, which ever days they may be; Hours could be 10-5 or 10-3, but a minimum of 15-20 per week

WFNX
Promotions Intern (Lynn, MA)
Working in the Promotions department. Keep track of prize winners by updating spreadsheets, calling winners, and mailing prizes. Must be hard working and self motivated. We would love someone with a sparkling personality who enjoys what they do. Music Promotions/Music Management background a plus.
WFNX Morning Show Intern (Lynn, MA)
Working with the Morning Show. Assist DJs in every aspect of their show including answering phones, taking requests, pulling spots, writing material for on-air use, research, gathering news, taking winner information, booking guests, writing news/entertainment stories, voice production, and participating in audio editing and production.
Experience with ProTools is highly recommended. The ability to multi task will
definitely come in handy. If you consider yourself to be a “morning person,” it would certainly help considering the morning shift begins at 6am.
